Background & Philosophy

Laura Schweitzer is a Senior Designer at Furiosity Marketing. Laura leverages extensive experience in graphic, web, and UX design to create engaging websites, assets, and user workflows.

As a member of our Design Team, Laura participates in developing branding strategies to build unique, memorable identities that boost our clients’ online presences. She sees design as both a head and a heart craft, and she thinks critically in both UX and visual design to make sure every project looks great and works for the people using it.

Laura joined Furiosity as a Web Designer in 2020, and her passion for creating usable, accessible designs has played a critical role in shaping our processes. She holds a BS in Visual Communication Technology from Bowling Green State University.

Above all, Laura is motivated by making people feel seen, understood, and cared for. She starts by finding what excites each client and building on that energy, and she is just as invested in helping her teammates learn and grow alongside her.

What drove you to specialize in both design and UX?

I’ve always gravitated toward design, and I also really like helping people feel seen and understood, so combining design and UX sort of happened naturally. I like thinking holistically about how I can help people find information they need and make websites easy and enjoyable to navigate.

What do you wish more people knew about design/UX?

A lot of people think that designs are just meant to look pretty, but there’s also a lot of functionality considerations that are easily overlooked. Designers can do way more than people might think. And when you combine that with UX, you have to think both creatively and critically and think about how everything will come together to help users.

Do you have any standout projects from over the years?

There are a lot, but it’s always the next project that I’m the most excited about. Working on a new site and being able to create something new for a client is just such an amazing and inspiring experience.

Now for the most important question: You and Caleb both have Corgis, and you’re both involved in web and design. Is there a correlation between Corgi parents and web/design people?

Corgis are very aesthetically pleasing dogs! Even though they have weird proportions. I don’t think it’s entirely unrelated that we both happen to have Corgis…

Great design puts people at the center, tells an impactful story, and solves real challenges for our clients. It's truly a privilege to help unlock all of the possibilities that a great visual identity can provide for an organization.
